How Many Animals Are Extinct Due To Being Hunted For Their Parts?

Many animals that are famous for their fur, skin, bones, and other parts are endangered or extinct due to their sought after part. Polar bears, mink, seals, ermines etc are animals who are hunted for their skin while cattle, yaks, reindeers and other animals are hunted for leather which is used to make leather objects like bags, belts and coats.

Many other animals like the musk deer and the elephant are hunted for the invaluable musk and ivory tusks which in turn leads to their endangerment and consequent extinction. Tiger skins and leopard skins are also very valuable which increase poaching. Thus several animals fall prey to hunting and fishing which leads to their extinction. Some of them are also killed for their meat which is considered as exotic and rare delicacies. Thus their priceless parts are at many times a cause for their extinction. The other ways of extinction include habitat loss, pollution and introduction of foreign species.
