Is Acer's A Quality Laptop?

Answer Question

I have used several and I have no problems with them.  They seem to have the same problems as the more expensive computers. I certainly would not use them for serious gaming since the gamers are using high performance graphics cards, fast and large hard drives and gazillion megabit memory cards just so they can get a microsecond advantage over their adversaries.

Acers are very good all around business machines that economically get the job done. But then again, you are getting info from a guy that is typng this on a 6 year old E-Machines tower.  As far as Acer, the company, is concerned-- E-Machines were bought by Gateway, which was bought out by Acer. I would recommend their laptops for good general, overall everday use. They will last. I don't recommend any Intel Atom netbook, however. You can't add or remove programs because the netbook does not have a CD/DVD Disk.

I consider Acer to be a budget range. I would expect some catch with an acer laptop i.e. Insufficient memory, processor or drive space. Ace laptops use to use a cheap version of TFT that would look a lot worse.

I completely agree. An Acer laptop bought today will last for as long as you can live with the existing memory and low drivespace. The slow speed of the CPU is plenty fast enough for office and general home use. Most Acer laptops today come with 160Gbt memory, more than enough for photo storage, office documents & spreadsheets. The 2 Gbt RAM is not underpowered for office use. When the time comes, the RAM & HD are easily replaced. Compared with 5yrs ago today's budget PC is a great bargain.

Agreed. It's more budget friendly version. As Grayhead mentioned it's good for day to day works. But with comparing todays newest technology, it's vice to go better brand if you having enough buying power. Important factor is work doing using your laptop. Some peoples never need smart laptops and they never use modern features comes with their laptops, they even don't know about it.
