Who Is Danny Elfman?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A Hollywood music composer, who formerly fronted the band Oingo Boingo.  He was born in 1953, grew up in a racially mixed part of Los Angeles, and had no formal musical training.

Several ex-performers in Boingo went onto other successful careers, but none more than Danny Elfman.  He started writing movie scores in the mid-1980s, particularly for films being directed by Tim Burton.  Elfman's musical scores can be heard on dozens of well-known Hollywood productions, including:

Edward Scissorhands (1990).  This is said to be Elfman's own personal favourite.
    Mars Attacks (1996).
    Good Will Hunting (1997)
    Men in Black (1997)
    Spider Man movies (2002, 2004)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).  He also provided the singing voices for the Oompa Loompas.
    Charlottes Web (2006)

Not satisfied with just dominating music for most of the creative action thrillers on the big screen in the past 15 years, Elfman is also the author of the theme tune to many TV shows. Just 2 among the many: The Simpsons, and Desperate Housewives.
