Why Did Some Monkeys Evolve Into Humans Whilst Others Didn't?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Natural selection. It is the capacity for all living things to adapt to their environment. If your environment dictates a certain trait for survival, individuals with that trait will flourish in that environment. Individuals who do not have that trait will die out. Thus we have humans with different color skin, hair and eyes all coming from a common ancestor.

This is due to the fact that in their environment apes had the traits necessary to survive that particular environment. Probably homo-erectus did not. An evolutionary juncture - two parallel environments exist: one for ape and one for the creature that would eventually become homo sapien.

Natural selection plays a big part in this.
Some grew genes and evolved, some stayed the same.
