Answer Question

4 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

According to the articles i have read a horse can be 30-40 years old and still live a healthy life...so 16 would be  like middle age...if the horse was taken care of the right way before you got it...

16 is a good age for your first horse. They are generally well trained and have had most of the "kinks" worked out. I had a horse that was 21yrs old and had more get up and go than some of the 3yr olds i knew. Proper feed and exercise will keep the horse acting and feeling younger for many many years. In the same barn we had a horse that was 50 yrs old. He was blind, and had no teeth but was VERY healthy and happy till the day he finally passed on to the green pastures in the sky.

No it isn't old. It is about middle age. Horses can live up to 35-40 if they are in a good condition.
