How To Get Rid Of Fleas?

Answer Question

Killing fleas is not easy as it sounds. Locating them is a major task because they are most probably hiding on the body of your pet. Fleas thrive in tropical type conditions. Both of which can be eliminated with a good air conditioner.

The house has to be cleaned and vacuumed thoroughly on a regular basis. Fleas are known to escape vacuum cleaning bags; the bags need to be disposed off promptly. If there is a lawn outside the house they need to be treated with appropriate pesticides to prevent it from becoming a breeding ground for fleas. The pets of the house should be bathed in warm soapy water as fleas are uncomfortable around water. Use a fine toothed comb to go all over your pet, you will be surprised with the number of fleas that you detect.

The local vet will be able to prescribe anti-flea powders or lotions that could be applied on the coat of your pet. If all this sounds like a lot of hard work then an exterminator should be summoned.

You aren't supposed to use anything if it is a kitten, but if the kitty is older, then you can use flea shampoo or powders, but remember if you are using the shampoo, (it's better), then put some cotton in the ears, so the fleas can't hide in there. Hope this helps, good luck to you and the kitty.
