I know someone who had this procedure done and their eye literally exploded.  This procedure compromises the pressure in the eye and over time it has to go somewhere.  Their insurance wouldn't cover it because it was classified as a "preexisting condition" so they were left with a huge hospital bill and blind in that eye.  Until that happened to him, I was considering the procedure for myself but after that I decided that wearing glasses isn't so bad.
