How Do You Get An Affidavit?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

An affidavit is a document that contains a written statement that is used in court proceedings as evidence. The person making such an affidavit has to confirm by way of promising that the information contained is accurate. An affidavit must be prepared before a judge, policeman or other authorized person. In the United Kingdom an affidavit has to be prepared in the presence of a solicitor or alternately in a local County Court. The normal fees that any solicitor would charge works out to around ₤5.00 for the affidavit itself and an additional ₤2.00 for all documents that are attached to the original. County Courts do not charge anything for affidavits that are sworn there. High Courts however cannot have Affidavits sworn in County Courts brought before them in cases being heard there.
