How Do You Get Unemployment Benefits?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In order to get unemployment benefits in the United Kingdom a person has to visit their local Job Centre. It is here that one can claim for benefits. Only your own local Job Centre is capable of providing you with the application forms and is capable of processing your application. Contact details and addresses of the relevant Job Centre are available at www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk. This benefit is actually known as a Job Seekers Allowance.

It is available in two forms, namely Contribution based and Income based. The former is only available who have worked in the UK for two years and have contributed to National Insurance while the latter refers to a kind of "Income Support". Once the application is made the Centre provides you with a date when the interview will be held. Further details are available with www.dwp.gov.uk.
