What Is The Film No Retreat No Surrender About?

Answer Question

Before they ruined it with a lengthy series of sequels, No Retreat No Surrender was a perfect little film about honour, dedication and fighting spirit.

Jason and his Dad who is a karate teacher move out of their home and work place when the local mob try to take over all of the karate schools.  At one particularly nasty meeting, 'Ivan' the Russian (Jean Claude Van Damme) injures Jason and his Dad.  Heads held low, they leave the town.

They find a new home and Jason goes about his day, making friends, and unfortunately making enemies.  He defends his new friend in a fight but that gets a whole new karate school against him.

Angry, humiliated and upset, Jason fights with his Dad, runs away and begins staying in an abandoned building.  It is there that the spirit of Bruce Lee visits him, to teach him, the mental, spiritual and physical discipline of the martial arts.

Before too long, Jason is set for a show down with the mob's karate champion, when he hurts Jason's girl!

Best line in the film, RJ, shouting to an injured and pain Jason in the ring, JASE, NO RETREAT NO SURRENDER! Oh man, it makes me well up!

Why can't the spirit of Bruce Lee come and train all of us eh? :)
