Where Is New Hall College?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

New Hall is one of the more modern colleges that form part of Cambridge University. It is sited at the north end of the town and has distinctive white concrete buildings, the most famous of which is the Hall. The semi spherical dome looks a bit like a white breast with a nipple, which is fitting, as the college has always been all female.

It was founded in 1954 and has been expanded in recent years with new buildings and a new courtyard. It retains a modernist feel and is well known as a friendly college, but still rich in the traditions of the university.

It is now the only college of the university that is all female but it has plenty of male visitors (as it always has) and many of the teaching staff are men. Lectures take place with students from other colleges, with one to one teaching in the college itself, providing a good balance.

The rooms and accommodation are modern but extremely comfortable and New Hall is an excellent place to live and study.
