Right before my spouse falls asleep he will twitch. Any word on why he does it?

People twitch as different muscles in their body, relax from the ready mode they are in when awake. This is a good way to tell if someone is truly going to sleep. Word is we all do it. Sometimes just before i let go of my consciousness, I will notice a muscle twitch, all by itself. I used to wonder the same thing.
