GOOD NEWS GEORGIA ...I just spoke to the Governors Office and was told that Governor Perdue has everything in place for a third tier of EB benefits to be issued. They are just waiting for the DOL to update their computers to start sending out the funds, which they have until May 25 to do so, if not before then. So hang in there help is on the way. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OTHER STATES!!!!

I just learned from department of labor there is not money for tier 3 once you have exhausted your funds from tier 2 that is it no more money. Guess Governor office was not being honest at all about tier 3.

I think it is very sad our Governor think so less of the citizens in this State, we are suffering and he has no ideal  what he have done to so many citizens by taking away tier 3 benefits. Some of us will be homeless and hungry.

What amaze me is the lack of information the GDOL will give you. I spoke to a lady today and was told that there was no funds beyond the 2nd tier, when i told her that i had spoke to the Governors Office and they said different, she changed her story and said that they were told not to give any information out until they have everything set up for the EB program. What's wrong with us knowing? At least we would know what to tell our landlord and utility companies about when we will be able to pay them. MAY 25 is too long for us to have to wait for them to decide to send out our benefits.....

I spoke with my cousin, who works for the state of GA and he states..........It's up to the Governor!  He would prefer to use the money given in the Stimulus for other projects. GA unemployment dropped in the last week & if it continues the 3rd tier is SURELY OUT!

Your cousin don't know what hes talking about. Georgia will be starting their EB benefits May 25, 2009, that was confirmed by both the Governors Office and the GDOL. Go to the Ga. Forum web site to get info. The Governor sign the bill on 4/21/09, now the DOL will update for the 5/25/09 mailing of funds.

Ugh of course the stats for unemployment dropped! A huge portion of the people were getting the EUC had exhausted all their claims, so yeah the rate has dropped because they are no longer able to draw off their claims. That is the biggest flaw in the unemployment rates, so don't believe everything you read.

BUT I'm under the understanding that all those available to get the 3rd extension will receive a letter which will be mailed out May 8th. Then if you don't get the letter they will have it on their website to file on May 22. That is pretty much all the info I've been able to ferret out of anyone or any possible source. I just hope it's retro active, if not then a lot of people will be loosing their houses and more homeless families will be in the streets.

I ran out of tier2 a few weeks ago and I continue to certify any hoping a tier3 would kick in and i just saw this on the GA Dept of Labor certification page, "The new law does not include provisions for additional extended benefits beyond Second Tier EUC."

I was told by a rep that you have to wait until your 2nd tier has ran out to received a letter, but she also stated that you dont have to wait for the letter just go to the department of labor website and fill out the 3rd tier form it became available online on may 22,2009...which was what i did...and i havent received a letter.....i know monday was a holiday(memorial day) so there will be a delay as they stat....i check my account no department of labor deposit may 27,2009 wednesday so i will find out on thursday...which is tomorrow or i will just call and find out....we just have to be patient....but honestly i have been looking for a job for about 3 months and nothing....someone call me from nyc about a job but that is way far...for 9 dollars
