What Country Remained Neutral At The Beginning Of World War II?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There were many countries that actually declared their neutrality at the beginning of the second world war.
If you mean a big, non-european country, the USA declared that it would remain neutral at the beginning of the war. SOME other european countries that stated that they intended to remain neutral in WWII were; Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Portugal and Éire (what the Irish republic was officially called at the time).
However, some of these countries and other countries in South America that remained neutral at the beginning of WWII, actually joined in the war later on for various reasons.
