I don't know where you live, but no matter where, a landlord is not allowed to charge twice for the last month. Call the courthouse where you are, and find out where you can get information on landlord/tenant laws. They should be able to direct you in the right direction. Hope this helps.

Contact an attorney Now, If the damages were not caused by you, while renting yhe property, you are not liable and might be able to
file a counter-lawsuit against him/her for false damages. If did a walk
through inspection when you first rented the property, this inspection
will indicate what previous damages where there prior to you moving
      in.

My Landlord has claimed damages to the house I was renting. She claims she had to repaint the walls replace the carpet, which was tens years old. Sand and refinish the hardwood floors which also the original finish and faded and failed due to sun damage. Replaced painted french doors that had scratches and claims $600.00 labor. All the repairs were not like items but high end upgrades. She is now suing me for the cost of all repairs. She has kept the security deposit of $ 2000.00 and $ 500.00 pet deposit and claims an additional amount of over $ 5000.00.
