Stress in medical terms is the response of the body to external events that affect it physically as well as psychologically. Stress is mainly characterized by fear in the face of a threat or danger and worry or anxiety regarding a perceived threat or negative condition that may develop in the future.
It affects almost all the bodily processes but also causes the brain and various glands to secrete various hormones and chemicals that have an adverse effect on the body in the long run. There are various stress management techniques that involve physical exercise and meditation that have shown excellent stress busting results.
Stress has other meanings like in linguistics it means the force that one uses while pronouncing a syllable or a word in scientific terms, stress in physics means the level of equilibrium of an object with respect to its inner structure that can be maintained by it and measured in terms of force per unit area when an external force is applied.
