I am just wondering if my cat is sick or if his symptoms are normal?

This can needs to be examined by a veterinarian. He is at the age where most commonly we start to see kidney disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, and cancer. These diseases among others need to be ruled out as causes for his distended abdomen.
From what you are describing I am concerned that your cat may have fluid in this abdomen. Cats with abdominal effusion (fluid) are often thin through the chest then look like they've swallowed a basketball. Your veterinarian may be able to tell whether fluid is present though palpation or may take an x-ray to confirm.

If the cat has eating a lot of fish lately than that would be it one of my cats died by eating to much fish at once. It causes the cat to get crystals and then he can't pee but all I can say is get him to a vet because if you wait to long it will be to late and he will end up like my cat.

I would advise taking your cat to a vet. Older male cats are prone to kidney problems, which could be causing the swelling. Is he drinking more than usual?
Is he very lazy? It could be that he's overweight, and this is also very bad for him. My own cat has a bit of a belly on him, but we're working on reducing it.
It really could be any number of things, but only a vet would be able to tell you.
