The Borough of Gedling, established in 1974, and comprising an area of 46.3 sq. miles is home to almost 112,000 people.
Set in the Nottinghamshire countryside, it encompasses the towns of Arnold and Carlton and the nearby parishes and borders Sherwood Forest to the north, the River Trent and the City of Nottingham from the southeast to the southwest. From ancient to modern community facilities in addition to suburban settlements with amazing shopping and leisure facilities, tranquil villages and picturesque countryside, there is everything for the asking.
An excellent network of train and local buses also serves the area. The Borough is also incidentally home to around two and half thousand businesses and by far the largest concentrations of employment are situated on the Victoria Park Retail Development and Colwick Industrial Estate.
One is also reminded of the popular Robin Hood and his merry men, when speaking of this area.
