The mass number of an atom of an element is equal to the sum of number of protons and number of neutrons present the nucleus of the atom.

Nitrogen is a chemical element and its symbol is N. Nitrogen is a non-metal and its normal phase is gas. It is present in the 15th group, 2nd period and 'p' block of periodic table. The atomic number of nitrogen is 7. The number of neutron present in the nucleus of the nitrogen atom is 7. So, the mass number or atomic mass of nitrogen is 14 (7 + 7).
