Snape is indeed a hero!! he loved lily potter all his life and regretted her death dearly he was on dumbledores side all along! he was told by dumbledore himself that when the time came he would have to kill him,

He is then killed by voldemort in deathly hallows well by the snake nagini . and as he lies dying harry runs to him and Snape says "look... look at me" looks into harry's eyes and then dies.

This was the importance of harry's eyes always being said were his mothers, Snape's love for her was so great it was the last thing he wished to see when he died, he left his liquid memories for harry , who then takes them and sees everything Snape first meeting lily and being bullied by Jame's potter and having a very hard life and he sees how he was all along on the good side.

It's all very sad ! i cried so much

Severus Snape used to be the Potion's Master at Hogwarts. It was a common rumor at first in the students that Snape had been longing for the job of the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, but because Snape had been a death-eater, Dumbledore didn't trust him with the job. It turned out that the first part of the rumour was true i.e. Snape wanted the Defence Against the Dark Arts job. But the second part proved wrong when Professor Dumbledore gave him the Defence Against the Dark Arts post. It so appeared that Dumbledore did trust Snape.

Severus Snape, though, turns into a sort of villain in the Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. Being the central character as the Half-blood Prince, he ends up murdering Dumbledore and then escapes. It is pitiable though, that a man like Dumbledore trusted someone with his life, and ended up by getting killed by him.

Snape, it is worth mentioning, was an arch-enemy of James Potter (Harry's dad) and Sirius Black (Harry's Godfather) at school. So, it won't come as a surprise that he loathed Harry too.  It has been hinted by Rowling that Snape will play a very important part in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.Could he be the ultimate Hero or Villain? Let's wait for the book to reveal the truth.

Snape is the ultimate hero, he served Dumbledore and pretended to work for Voldemort the whole time, risking his life over and over again, for Harry Potter, even though Harry was his arch-enemy!
