In most countries, including the U.S.A., there are no "legal" requirements to take a break at any given time or for any specific length of time. However, certain company or "union" rules may be required, for safety and health reasons (we all gotta eat, right?). Many "blue collar" (i.e., assembly line, packing, etc, workers), typically get 15 minutes per two hours of work, and/or a half-hour lunch break; "white collar" (i.e., office, clerical, business, etc, workers), may get as-needed coffee breaks and up to one hour lunch breaks. Ask your supervisor about your company's and/or department's break policy.
