When Was Cricket Invented?

Cricket was invented in the 13th century or maybe even earlier than that but it was really invented in the 1700s.

Back in the 1700s

The history of this sport can be traced back to the13th century, but some people believe that this sport was in existence even earlier and suggested that that game has its origin among the kids of farming and metalworking communities in the place called Weald and played between Kent and Sussex. The written evidence suggests about the existence of a game which was called Creag and was played by Prince Edward in Newenden, Kent in 1300. The prince was the son of Edward I(long shanks).
     
A court case in the year 1598 also referred to a sport named Kreckett, which was being played at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford around 1550. The Oxford dictionary also cites this instance as the very first instance of cricket in the history of the English language.
