    Joseph Addison was an English essayist, poet and dramatist. He was born on 1st May, 1672 at Millstone in Wiltshire. 'The Campaign' published on 1705 AD based on the battle of Blenheim brought his attention of leading Whigs and paved his way to appear as an important government posts and literary fame. He was the secretary of the state. He, accompanied by Richard Steele, was a leading contributor and guiding spirit of the periodicals such as 'The Tattler' (1709-1711), 'The Spectator' (1711-1712, 1714) and many more. Joseph was one of the most admired masters of English prose and he contributed a lot to bring the enhancement in the periodical essay. Cato, published on 1713, is one of the famous plays written by Sir Joseph Addison. Cato is considered as a highly successful play with political over notes and encompassing the tragedies of 18th centuries which crossed the boundary of time and place and still today has a significant place along with contemporary creations. Joseph Addison left the mortal world on 17th June, 1718 in London.
