Can Food Trigger A Migraine?

    Yes, migraines are often triggered by certain foods but many people simply do not realise it. If you have started getting migraines quite frequently it could be a help to keep a food diary. That way you will be able to tell if any certain foods are triggering your migraine off. Everybody is different and so what triggers off your migraine will not necessarily trigger off somebody else, hence there are no specific foods which you should stay away from. It all depends upon your body and keeping a food diary is the best way to see what foods you should be cutting down on!

    Although there are no specific foods generally that you should stay away from, studies have shown that some common migraine triggers include cheese, citrus fruits, hot dogs, fatty foods and ice cream. So, keep your own food diary and see if there are any foods which you eat and then gain a migraine. Once you know whether there is a food connection, you will be able to cut down on those foods and hopefully your migraines should start to go away.
