    Alloys of copper and zinc give birth to brass. The ratio of zinc that can vary from 5% to 48% gives rise to create a range of brass with unique properties. Brass looks some what similar to gold. It is quite resistant to tarnishing, and used for decoration.

    It is obtained by melting copper with calamine which is a zinc ore. During the course of production, copper mixes with the zinc produced by calamine. Pure zinc is too reactive. Brass is mainly used for decorative, plumbing and electrical applications. Different types of brass are:  Alpha brass, Alpha-beta brass, Aluminum brass, Arsenical brass and Beta brasses. By changing the amount of copper and zinc properties of copper and zinc can be changed
