Information Technology, or I.T, is endless important to a business, due to its plethora of functions. Firstly, I.T can be used to enhance your customers’ experience with your company, through use of a well-designed website. This allows you to connect with people that you may not have previously been able to reach, due to them living away from cities or even branching out overseas. This is profitable for a business as, quite simply, it brings in more customers and therefore, more money.

Another advantage of modern technology is the ability of firms to implement a Management Information System into their daily work, which can in turn ensure that all business proceedings go without a hitch and the business runs more efficiently. This allows you to constantly monitor your company’s progress and helps you make a more educated decision before jumping into potentially risky business ventures. You can also use a register feature to track employee attendance from day to day, ensuring that you always have a strong team of workers.

It also gives you the freedom to allow your employees to work from home, or on business trips, making your company run around the clock which is an important factor of a thriving business. This is also a useful feature as those who cannot get into work for various reasons can still do their bit and keep the company running, which is especially handy in times of extreme weather or illness.

The most obvious benefit of Information Technology is that it improves communication dramatically from traditional telephone communication. As aforementioned, it allows you to reach customers worldwide and allows you to take orders without people even visiting your store or business location. Your employees can take full advantage of the vast range of social networking sites available, encouraging a friendlier work environment.

Any business activity is a decision-making. Decision-making is the selection of the best alternative. Decision-making could be effective if it is based on adequate information collected on the subject and their appropriate analysis in the the proper perspective(s).  Various MIS are based on IT only. IT provides storing, retrieval, analysis and management of information. IT also provides quickest means of communication and IT connects us globally. Communication Systems, Logistic, F&A HR all functions beside Operation & Maintenance depend on IT. These are all about IT's importance in business..
