Who Was The First Model?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There have been many models through the ages, but the greatest inspiration by the greeks was the thought of Jesus, not having seen him but imagining him in their minds. I guess you could also say the Mona Lisa but apparently it was done on a self portrait.  Who knows.  The imagination is the greatest model for all things.  If you are speaking of the modern world, that is very difficult to figure, because it depends on the artist.  Many great works were inspired by someone close, take Renoir's portrait of a mother, or the famous self portrait of Van Gaugh.  What inspires someone, it all is different. But just posing, than you go to your great masters, they have always tried to capture the image of god. This is true in all cultures - so I guess, the best model was God
