    Overhand Knot is a type of a Knot. It is one of the most basic types of knots; it is also helps in the formation of other type of knots like the Simple Noose. The overhand Knot also helps in the formation of the Anglers Loop, Blood Knot and the Fisherman's Knot. The Overhand Knot is said to be very secure, however only till the point of over jamming. The overhand knot should be used only if it is intended to permanent. Many times it is also used to prevent the end part of the rope from being unravelled.

    There various numbers of ways to tie the overhand knot; the Thumb method and the Overhand Method are the most commonly used ways for creating this type of a knot.
