When Was Brighton & Hove Albion Founded?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Brighton & Hove Albion was founded in 1901and their nickname is 'the Seagulls' due to their location on the coast of Sussex. The club was originally part of the Second Division of the Southern League, but joined the newly structured Third Division South in 1920.

The team plays it's home games at the ground of Withdean Stadium which has a small capacity of 8,850 people. However this is only a temporary measure. Brighton & Hove Albion started out playing their matches on the County Cricket Ground in Hove. They moved onto the Goldstone Ground in their second year and remained there until 1997. Following a couple of years at Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium, they have moved on to Withdean until the new Falmer Stadium is ready.

Brighton & Hove Albion currently reside in the League One division after unfortunately being relegated from the Championship during the 2005/06 season when they finished in 24th position.
