The senate of the United States is the upper house of the bicameral United States Congress. Each of the state in U.S is represented by two senators due to which there is equal representation of each state in the Senate.
The Senate has a lot of exclusive powers such as consenting to treaties, appointment of Cabinet secretaries, federal judges, military officials. Senate is smaller and its members serve a longer term.
Senate was found to keep a check and balance the powers of the Federal Government.
