The Blue Angels and the Air Force's Flying Thunderbird's only fly in formations of 6. It's the only amount allowed under F.A.A. Rules. Wartime maneuvers is a whole different story. But more planes can fly together in formations but can't do maneuvers. The Thunderbird's usually only fly a four plane formation.
