Any advice on how to handle a bossy older relative who wants to commandeer things (like entertainment) in your home? I try my best to accommodate her interests as her visits are infrequent but fear I may be doing more long-term harm than good.

That "guest" dynamic is entirely dependent on your family.

Some families, the "guest" has control of the TV ... Other families, the "guest" is stuck watching whatever the hosts normally watch.

The best solution, is to provide the "guest" with their own entertainment options, separate from the family.  EG: A TV in the guest room.
