Theres a very good chance your hearing is getting worse.  Earphones have already been proven seriously detrimental to hearing and it doesn't have to be at high volume.  With soundwaves pounding the eardrums and inner ear from barely an inch away it doesn't take much.  Especially if earphones are worn frequently.
