During the late summer I can jump across the North Fork of the American River in CA. Is is somewhat smaller than the Mississippi, but still called a river.
Since I don't have a lady here to keep me warm, I wear sweatpants and sweatshirts and snuggle with my Hound dog ! He keeps me warm ! Lol
When I lived up north, one of the best purchases I made was a heated mattress pad. Turn in on about 15 minutes before going to bed, and you never get into a cold bed. Put a down comforter on top and it was nice and toasty. Also a fire place and lots of tea.
