How would you personally go about trying to separate people you didn't want together or communicating for whatever reason or get them to move on and let go of someone else that you wanted them to let go of?

You shouldn't.  If they are close, why would you want to separate them?    If they're happy, don't try to separate them.  That would be very selfish and inconsiderate.
