Why is it, or why is it that you think, that some people seem to be limited to or pigeonholed into serving in very particular ways and roles and in very specific areas without many or any options for how they contribute at all?

Because they allow themselves to be. No one's life changes without the person putting in the effort to make the change. They have to ask and work for something different.
