So I have to write this thing in french class after reading a book, and my teacher wants us to include 5 ''peripeties'' from this book. She didn't explain very well, and so I don't really know what a peripetie is!! help?

it a means a plot twist ...or highly dramatic event .. I can't think of a better way to explain it. It means that though cos I said so.

Your teacher was just trying to make it interesting for you. It translates as "an event" or "a twist or turn". Just find some highlights, preferably with a surprise twist, and you'll be fine.
