So a year back I got deathly sick and ended up spending a lot of time in the hospital. I honestly miss it a lot and sometimes I wish I would get sick just so I could go back. Maybe it's just the feeling of safety but any ideas?

explain why each successive ionization of an electron requires a greater amount of energy?

You will need tremendous amount of energy to get to the electrons (-ve) as you get closer to the nucleus (+ve)  , as you remove electrons , other electrons gets closer to the nucleus so more attraction will take place , and it's difficult to ionise , that's why .
