Greentree7, Hope u are okay. I have a wonderful book "the engineer in the garden", by the scientist Colin Tudge. A brilliant book./// Whilst looking on Amazon for more of his books I came across many but 2 are of trees and I thought of you./// the two books are, The secret life of trees. How they live and why they matter. Penguin press science. The other was, The tree, A natural history of what trees are ,how they live and why they matter. Both Colin Tudge ///I am thinking of ordering them myself as a prezzie for me from my daughter who has told me to order something. //////////Please let me know greentree if u are interested in these 2 books. If u love trees, then they sound perfect for you. Take care. Aileeny. Please let me know if u get them.
Don't mess with Darkblade. He's a vampire possessed by all powerful demons. Who apparently aren't powerful enough to help him get a girl he's stalking.
You know something? I don't think that you are powerful enough to mess with the Chosen One by God! I have more power than that of you young sorcerer. Your "Hex" has no effect on me.
Greentree, I thought it was Autumn there too. ///Please dont be alarmed at the biology website. It is just that I had never come across an i as notation for o group and I have read ALL the top biology/genetic books and all the experts on this site had not heard of it either , like me they only knew the aBo notation. So I wondered if it was just a Canadian thing, I was not trying to prove u wrong. But I do go into things deeply. Well finally a biologist has come back to me on this, he is a Canadian too and he did some web research, found a Canadian site (will shout it asap) that does mention your ii notation but then apparantly says it is best to stick to the well known universal ABo notation . I think it mentions Vancouver??. G/ tree dont worry please.////////Trees ARE beautiful, I would find it awful if those around me went.///I admire them too and in fact I suppose u could say I love them. But animals are higher up the chain of life . Y,know, plants, animals humans and a tree is a large plant. It cannot possibly need u like an animal can (cats being animals) it cannot form a relationship with u that a cat can. It has no central n s like a cat has and so on.Plus isnt it wrong to dislike our brothers and sisters the cats??//// Methinks u are having me on a little!!!!!But above all u carry on liking trees I shall BUT u could learn to like cats too. They need all the friends they can get.Take Care Aileeny
Hi G/tree, Hope u are okay. Thanks for reply. ///I meant cats are like trees in the sense that they are part of nature. That if u love nature than u surely must love all nature??? Cats are more independant than dogs ,I agree but then all species differ but as cats have a CNS, correspond with us in many ways ,then they have to be superior to trees (in my book) All my cats have their own distinctive nature, just as all humans do./////But I am NOT decrying trees, I love them and they also give us our lifegiving oxygen and are a home for thousands of species if u include all the insects.I absolutely hate even1 tree being brought down.///The biology website specifically asked me to enguire just who taught u the ii notation!! If u want to ignore this question, then fine g/tree. Take care and a BIG meoww from Katie ( cat) 18 year old who says "trees cannot purr" uncle G/tree!!
Greentree, Sorry to go on but who taught u to represent the blood group o allele as an i. I am really intrigued to know as I have researched this through a biologists site and they have never heard of the o being represented as an i or ii and neither have I. Looking forward to your reply. //BTW I am showing my ignorance but what season are u in now in Canada. TTFN
Thanks greentree, U sound a little like me, ,: Cos I too, as a child, used to ponder on why, why, esp. To do with living things and also space,i e I used to sit looking up at the moon thinking it all out while others nagged me to play. I used to be in a world of my own but I got no encouragement from my parents , my mother often telling me to" bl==dy shut up, going on and on about things" making me feel as if I was odd/weird. I think this is so wrong, do u? How about your parents. .Botany fascinates me too. I remember after passing my 11 plus at High school with my first botany lessons, being awestruck that plants etc could even be male or female. It deepened my interest. Seems silly now with hindsight. !!Trees are wonderful, they are giant plants, I hate deforestation and mans ruination of the natural world. Whereabouts in Canada are u?. I am in East yorkshire, Eng.///I differ to u re cats though and I do not understand anyone who says they do not like them. Whyever not. ?Cats can do with as many friends as poss as they are abused and the shelters are full of them. Cats are part of the natural world, like trees!!!!!!They have intriguing biology too. Tell u some if u like TTFN
Greentree, Thanks for reply. No I am not a biologist but I have a great interest is all life and how it functions. I am 68 ( see profile) and when I had my first son in 1963, I became engrossed in embrology and genetics and swotted up with library books then bought books. I then did an o and an A level at adult ed. And passed with As both times but I have read and studied even deeper than A levels. I must have ALL the top genetic /biology books around etc. I am fascinated by it and I pride myself on my knowledge being correct. Looking back I realise now that this intrique was always there even as a child as I can remember thinking things like" can a cat mate with a dog and if it could what would the baby look like" etc, whilst friends played hopscotch or whatever. I always felt a one off. I guess u could say I am a frustrated lay biologist. But I have learned so much in my lifetime about all species that have given me a life s interest. Blurtit is brilliant for satisfying my academic brain.!! How about u? U obviously know some genetics, where did u learn? How interested are u? Were u interested as a child/ Looking forward to a poss answer. BTW I was taught to use A and B as dominants in capitals and o as recessive not in cap. Example AB, Ao, Bo oo, AA, BB, . Likewise hair colour = D ( for dark, dominant hair colour) and "little" d for fair. Example genotype dark haired = DD if pure breeding and Dd if carrying for fair. Cheers Aileeny. England.
