On my Mac iBook, the approximate sign is command-x. I have been using Character Map on my Windows XP machine (Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Character Map), but a little experimentation found the following
± alt+241
≥ alt+242
≤ alt+243
≈ alt+247
√ alt+251
º alt+167 (strictly speaking, this is not a degree symbol)
Hold down the Alt key while you type the numbers on the numeric keypad (num lock enabled).
So just to back myself up again, I looked it up and Wiki had this to say among other things... In the United States, Anglo generally refers to White Americans who are not of Hispanic origin.[3] The term is used without regard to whether or not they are of English descent. Many people included in the definition do not identify themselves as "Anglo", and some may find the term offensive.
Ahhh...yes you are correct. But you said "anglos" and that is often used as a slang for white caucasians in general. Anglo-Saxon does refer to the english. But by the 1700's when settlers were coming to the americas, it included people from all over europe. As such I would point out that the English were invaded by the French and thus interbred, and if you look at the royal lines French, German, Spanish and English were interrelated. I personally look at it as the European invasion, it was not solely the "anglos". If anyone deserves their own country it would be the native americans.
Just pulled up some info for you so you don't have to search. The word "Cajun" is a variant of Acadian. The Acadians were evicted from Acadia (which has since been resettled and consists of parts of what is now known as New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, Canada) in the period 1755 - 1763
Not so sure about your comment about being there before the "anglos" as both the french and spanish were/are anglos. Also the Cajuns are the left overs from the french and the creole a mix of spanish, Islanders(slaves), and french/cajuns and native americans. So technically neither could have existed before anglos due to the fact that their cultures are anglo based. For instance Jambalaya that most wonderful dish of the creoles, is just the version of Pallella that they were able to make here, since saffron was too hard to find.
You are so wrong in everything you say. You obviously are brainwashed by your liberal professors. If it weren't for the US taking military action, you would be speaking German today, and honoring the memory of Adolph Hitler. Sadaam was a brutal dictator who killed thousands of his own people and kept 10 year olds in prison. If the US didn't fight for the rights of the oppressed, then who will. The people of South Vietnam did not want to be under communism. I wonder how many of your professors served in the military.
Liberals are not capitists. Conservatists are capitalists. Leberals are socialists, ie. Communists. My guess is that you have very liberal professors where you go to school. By the way, I alreday have my degree. I certainly would not move, being a proud war veteran of the military. Obama is a Marxist, not a capitilist. Be careful when you say Presidents, as some were socialist and some were capitalist.
