I think further clarification on the way ratings should be used is definitely required, we will post another blog entry on this next week.

While users may have lost points, the same rule has been applied to everyone, the new system of ranking negates the need for landmark point totals (as required with levels) the idea behind this is to measure yourself against other members rather than how high a points total you have accumulated. To continue to use numbers from the old system would be unfair to new members and require that we fudge rating scores by adding fictitious votes to answers.
