First of all are you sure that the white smoke is actually coming out of the tail pipe? It is possible that you have a leak in some part of the cooling system under the hood. If you were driving with such a leak it may appear that the white smoke is just coming out the back like it was coming out the tail pipe. It is also possible that your head gasket is leaking. This would add water to the exhaust system and weird out your oxygen sensors and that would make the RPMs jump. Check the coolant level!!!!
