About Me

I'm fortunate that I don't have any so called responsibilities at present and I am able to enjoy what I do to whatever extent I desire. I do love my family and they are forever in my heart, but they are not near me at present, so all our communication is by telephone or SKYPE. I'll be moving in the summertime to be nearer one of my granddaughters who isn't that far away.

I'm enjoying my freedom as my whole life, up until now, has been caring for people. I love and loved doing it, but I just wore out. It can happen. I lost my husband to Alzheimer's Disease a year ago after taking care of him for six years (24-7) and it took its toll although I wouldn't have done otherwise. Previous to that we took care of my mother for 10 years and she lived to be 96.

I feel like I may be sounding morose, but that is just how life can be and has been.

My Interests

I have two passions and they are art and gardening. When I can't do one (weather), I do the other. I have studied many different areas of art including pastel, acrylic, oil, pastel, sculpture, ceramics and bronze. I'm probably partial to pastels and sculpture.

As far as gardening, I am a Master Gardener, certified and am constantly having to plant seeds (even too early) and propagating cuttings, just compulsive. My plan, when I get moved, is to start a very small nursery in conjunction with my sculptures.

I keep myself very busy with a lot of different things not only the passions. I seem to like just about everything so I'm never bored. Today I signed up with "blurtit" and have spent a few hours reading and answering. It too is fun.

And I totally don't know what amortization is and try to believe it's not there.  I've had my head in the sand too long, but not to old to learn and it is facinating!!

I got it all until you got to the taxes to take off.  Shouldn't the discount be taken before the tax? And, if not, what is wrong in adding 25+15 and take the 40% discount.  Explain once again, about the taxes  .... I don't follow that. Thanks.

You are probably familiar with perrennials. If your planting A Rows of bulbs, and have B bulbs in each row, then you will need A X B bulbs to complete your planting. If your garden measures 50 ft by 70ft , then it has an area of 3500 square ft. You will need 240 ft of fence to enclose it. That's the perimeter of your garden. P = 2W +2L P = 2X(50ft) + 2X(70ft) P = 100ft + 140 ft P = 240ft. If the fence costs $1.99 per yard you can calculate how much it will cost. C(X) = PX = (240ft)x(1yd/3ft)x($1.99/yd) = $159.20 If the store is having a sale and all garden materials are 25% off, and for today only take an additional 15% off of your purchase, and the sales tax is 8.75%. (1-0.25) x (1-0.85) x (1.0875) x ($159.20) = $110.37 %off is actually 100% x [1 - (1-0.25)x(1-0.15)] = 36.25% It's common for people to add 15% to 25% to get 40% off. A few examples for you. I have many more. The time value of money involves lots of Algebra. Especially when it deals with amortization. I'll share that with you later. Interested?
Gardens are cool because you can grow your own veggies. Do you do organic gardening?

Yeah, I love math, but never got into higher math.  I get by. My interests are more in the creative arts and plant life. Wonder if that's why I had six children Ha-ha. Creating and planting = 6. Is that algebra or what ....hmmmm

Just by chatting and by answering each others questions. For starters I love math, and I believe it is very important to know. Especially applications to real life.

What Product/chemical Will Really Work For Getting Grout Stains Out?

Have light colored floor tiles and some places have turned dark. Have tried bleach, which I think should have worked, but nada! Have tried several others, also.
