You seem quite knowledgeable about irrigation in Pakistan. Perhaps you can help me. I am an MS student in Syracuse, USA, and am in the process of completing my thesis. In a nutshell, I am quantifying the energy inputs and outputs of wheat and rice in Pakistan. One major energy input is of course irrigation.
To my knowledge, the types of irrigation prevalent in Pakistan are canals (government and private canals), tube wells, wells, canal tube wells, and tanks. First of, I am not even certain what each of these irrigation types is or how they work. Could you help here?
Would you happen to know of a reliable source of data for crop-specific and irrigation-type specific irrigation in Pakistan?
Basically, I would like to know how much irrigation water is used for a crop and by which irrigation type. I would be extremely grateful if you could contact me via email at ali.pracha@gmail.com
