A Generator is two sets of magnets, with the lines of Flux being present! The motion of the armature causes these Lines of Flux to cross each others paths, and this effect produces electric current! And example of this is the old crank phones! This effect was found in 1832 by Faraday in proving that there were lines of Flux present in any magnetic or electric field!
