Yin And Yang

I am feeling blue. 🙁 Tomorrow is my oldest daughters birthday and she's a state away. This will be the first birthday I have ever not seen one of my kids. How did you guys handle the first birthday after a child left the nest?

This leaving the nest thing is for the birds!

The first few days they are gone you jump and almost stop breathing when the phone rings late. But, as the days pass it gets easier.

You raised her for this day. Let her fly just know she is only a phone call away.

It does get easier.  One day at a time.

Mine is still safely in the nest, but I have all the faith in the world that yours will launch safely.  She has love and support, and she's been raised by the best!  I know it's difficult, but she'll be back before you know it.

Concentrate on it being a commemoration of another milestone on her growth to fulfillment and self-reliance.

Your job as a parent was to produce a fully functioning adult.  This is just another confirmation of your success.

My youngest (36) boy once asked if I was proud of him.  I responded, "Proud of you?---Hell, I'm in awe of you!"
