The tree guys suggested a small table. So did my mom. My four year old wants it to be a step he can jump off of. I thought of sanding it down and burning our last name into it.
We had our tree chopped down today because we are going solar. I am keeping part of the trunk. What are some fun ideas to create?

Remove all the bark. Let it dry out for a while indoors and then sand it. Might be cute sitting stool with a carved out high back rest.
A bird house ?
Cut slabs and sand for centre pieces on the table to hold hot food trays.?

Depending on how tall it is, you can get one of the artists that use a chainsaw to sculpt something out of it. 8 have seen bears, totems, and recently one with whales.
Interesting conundrum---one has to chop down a living tree in order to go "green."
I like your idea of the family name burned into it. Maybe even welcome and the year you and Yang were married on it too.
