How is it that an extention cord ends up to becoming knotted ?

Improper coiling when it was put away. If coiled right, it will come out one layer at a time and not tangle.

I usually spend hours to i get that knot out also i have power supply strip that still work and they're about 13 years old . I see things this way if the knot can come out and it still works I'm using it just the same as the power supply strip it's 13 years old It works I'm still using them .
