Other than a dehumidifier, what ways are there to reduce humidity inside the home?

Hello there,  My family use to do this years ago when the house inside was too humid , Take bags of Ice and place it in front of fans and i would say two bags per fan and use two fans per room . Some people just sleep in the living-room and some use couch ( sofa) Air Mattress Beds . We all got do something when the humidity in the house or apartment is too uncomfortable. We have to do what we can when we can't afford A/C / .
