Nevertheless there is a hypothetical Full Form of COMPUTER, which is said to be Common Operating Machine Particularly Used for Trade, Education, and Research. Computer is the agentive form of the word "compute", which has existed since the 17th century, chosen because the earliest computers were designed to calculate numerical problems.

This is an example of what you'd call a "backronym". An acronym made up after-the-fact as a false etymology of a word.
